Design as Performance

Book Machine: Houston

Book Machine: Houston occurred at the Texas Contemporary art fair in 2014. Twenty graphic design students from the University of Houston School Art, were paired with local artists to spontaneously design over 100 artist books in the span of three days. Book Machine is a community-based project organized in different cities around the world, which offers local artists and designers the opportunity to collaborate and create books. The event is open to the public and allows viewers to witness the creative process, and learn more about book design through presentations and conversations.
